GivingTuesday, taking place December 3rd, is a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage giving and to celebrate generosity worldwide. Every year, on GivingTuesday, millions of people across the globe mobilize to show up, give back, and change their communities. The goal is to create a massive wave of generosity that lasts well beyond that day, and touches every person on the planet.
Indaba Foundation is investing in the future of South Africa, by investing in ECD teacher training. Research by James Heckman shows that comprehensive, high-quality, birth-to-five programs have a 13% return on investment and pay for themselves over time. Brain development from birth to five years of age is more rapid than at any other stage of life. Providing children with high-quality early learning experiences counterbalances the effects of adversity, ensuring success later in life.
Offering ECD is statistically life-changing. Success is rooted in creating positive learning environments, enabling access to nutritious food, and establishing solid support systems from the earliest stage of a child’s life. Indaba Foundation & Indaba Institute’s philosophy is centered on a Montessori-based approach to education and learning addressing the real-world challenges the youngest and most vulnerable children must navigate.
Those who are interested in joining Indaba Foundation’s #GivingTuesday initiative can make a donation online. You can even double your support and get your employer involved if they participate in the matching donations programme! To train one teacher amounts to approximately $5000, and every dollar helps.
